This is particularly devastating for Katie, who is still attached to Mark who made her feel special in a time when she felt all alone. And who also feels responsible for the incident because she encouraged their on-line relationship and encounters blame for it from every corner. This book is an emotionally detailed example for teens and adults about how confusing it is to be a teen, negotiating new kinds of relationships while trying to establish their own identity and become an adult, and further, the affect victimization can have on a person at this developmental stage. Katie uses her story to emphasize the ease with which predators can use the internet to prey on minors who would normally be thought of as being in a safe environment and gives tips on ensuring children’s internet safety for parents as well as a list of web resources for increasing internet safety.
